Mojang has rolled out the Mounts of Mayhem update for Minecraft, delivering an exciting wave of new content to both Bedrock and Java editions. This release marks another step in Mojang’s 2025 “game drop” strategy, which aims to deliver smaller, frequent updates packed with new features. Following the earlier drops—Spring to Life in March, Chase the Skies in June, and The Copper Age in September—Mounts of Mayhem adds mounts, weapons, and armor that are sure to reshape gameplay for both new and veteran players.
Introducing the Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus

As the name suggests, Mounts of Mayhem introduces several new rideable mobs, including the Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus. These water-based mounts allow players to traverse underwater at 5.4 blocks per second. While riding, players gain the Breath of the Nautilus effect, which helps preserve air supply during long underwater journeys. Pufferfish can lure Nautilus mobs, but Zombie Nautilus often come with Drowned riders that players must defeat before taming. A rare Coral Zombie Nautilus also appears in one specific ocean biome, making it a valuable find for collectors.

More Undead and Desert Mounts
The update doesn’t stop with underwater mounts. In the Overworld, players can encounter Zombie Horses after dark. Like their aquatic cousins, players must defeat the hostile rider before taming these undead mounts. Desert biomes have also been enhanced with Camel Husks, which are rideable during the day but carry dangerous riders called Parched, who attack with arrows. Both Camel Husks and Parched survive in sunlight, adding a new layer of challenge for desert explorers.
New Armor and Weapons

Mounts of Mayhem also introduces Netherite horse armor, giving players the ability to protect their mounts more effectively. On the weapon front, the Spear has been added, designed to work exceptionally well while riding. Its damage scales with speed, making it ideal for mounted combat. When combined with an Elytra, the Spear’s high-speed attacks become even more deadly. Additionally, the Spear features a unique Lunge enchantment, increasing movement speed when performing a jab attack.
